ABOUT US
“Don't be too proud to take lessons. I'm not."
- Jack Nicklaus -
THE BEST GOLFERS ARE GREAT ATHLETES,
SO TRAIN LIKE ONE.
There are two types of golfers: There are the social players who enjoy getting together with friends and working their way around the course as an active respite from life's demands. Then there are the competitive golfers on relentless quests to challenge their skills against the best courses and players they can find. They bind themselves to the rules of the game, and from within them, seek to find every advantage to score as low as possible to win their matches and tournaments.
If you're a social golfer, stay awesome! Keep having fun playing the best game in the world. You likely don't need our program right now, but we'd be more than happy to help whenever you consider a shift to competitive play.
Now, If you are one of those golfers seeking every advantage to improving your performance, STONK GOLF is for you. We are NOT a swing coaching program, and will not compromise the work you may be doing with a coach. We actually find that there is far too much technical/analytical work in the game these days anyways, which we find to be part of the problem for those seeking enhanced and sustained performance. Every golfer has a unique swing style and capability that suits them, so we work on the essential core strengths to enhance and optimize the fundamental movement patterns of the golf swing, and the optimal mindset...so that any swing style can become natural, instinctive, and consistent.
Golf is not unlike other sports, in that, as you get better and become more successful, things tend to get more difficult: more expectation, more stakes, more competition, and more ups & downs. Golfers are also not unlike other athletes, in that, they are driven to perform their best, and typically train hard to do so. But they have to contend with the reality that a golf match lasts longer than most other sporting events, so physical strength and endurance is vital. Similarly, the mental strength and endurance required to manage the thoughts and feelings that arise during those long rounds is also critical to excellent play. These physical and mental skills are always combined on the golf course, so we believe that should be combined in training/practice as well.

I've been called "Stonk" since my high school football teammates coined it for me many years ago. It has stuck with me since, but I never knew that the term actually had a definition until we were planning on launching our golf training program here. I don't like using my name for branding, so when someone recommended we use it for the program, it was a hard no. Then, for some reason, we looked up the word Stonk in the dictionary, and low and behold, there was an actual meaning that could be used to describe our intent for our clients: a concentrated bombardment of the golf course!
After training/coaching golfers ranging from the PGA Tour to junior golf, I wanted to develop a system to coordinate the mental and physical strength required to play better, especially when it matters most. As a NSCA-CSCS, I have assisted countless athletes in getting stronger and more powerful. As a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and a graduate of Boston University's doctoral program in counseling and sport psychology, I have supported the mental performance and mental health needs for all of those athletes as well. I have developed the utmost respect for the unique demands of being a competitive golfer, because those are unlike any others in sport. Stonk Golf is our way to help both accomplished and aspiring golfers build the bodies and minds to play better at their highest possible levels.
